One of our biggest goals this year is to reimagine the way we look at August and September, turning the slow green season into the best time of year to visit Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico. Beyond the clear selling points of lower room rates, lower cost flights and a less crowded resort, our team put our heads together to ideate some fresh ideas to motivate travelers to monitor the weather and book a getaway to La Isla del Encanto this late summer and early fall. Our ideas are focused on securing exposure, increasing occupancy and hopefully preserving ADR as best possible.

Light Up the
SEPTEMBER NIGHT
We know that September is historically the hardest occupancy month of the year and that is why we are targeting it as the ultimate time to activate the property with some exciting out-of-the-box programming!
We are proposing hosting a week-long racket tournament focused on pickleball and padel. This would be a consumer-involved event where amateurs can play against other novices and enthusiasts and we could even invite some pros to play a match. And while we know this time of year can be a hot one, we have an innovative solution that will take our tournament from just another match to the next level: host all games at night using LED equipment — quite literally setting the court ablaze!
“Glow in the dark” or “LED” games are gaining popularity as an even more fun way to play, especially when paired with fun alcoholic beverages, live music or DJ sets, and more. Let’s make racketeering in Puerto Rico a full-on riot.

TREND: SPONTANEOUS TRAVEL + ALL-INCLUSIVE
SLOW SEASON Savings
The "Spontaneous Travel” trend could be just what we need to motivate travelers to visit the island during our “dead” season, which we know is all about last-minute bookings, monitoring hurricane development and securing that quick getaway when the weather is clear. Rather than planning trips with a wide window, this trend is all about rewarding travelers for taking that unplanned trip and living in the moment, which is what we are trying to make September in Puerto Rico all about!
Another major trend heading into 2025 also happens to be the continued rise of the all-inclusive, especially with the GenZ demographic — but this demand isn’t necessarily about cutting budget corners, but more so about the convenience of knowing the price tag of a trip before taking it and the freedom of a vacation without signing the tab! Although we know all-inclusives don’t exist in Puerto Rico the way they do in Mexico and other parts of the Caribbean due to costs of goods and labor, we propose offering a pre-priced “all-inclusive last-minute getaway” package option to motivate those last-minute bookings while conserving ADR and potentially even increasing profits through F&B depending on the pricing. We also don’t need to offer this over every date in the slow season, but can manage it almost like flash sales that are only applicable over the most low occupancy dates.
We can consider other ways to reward last-minute travelers but we love this option as it would hit two major trends and meet a clear demand that we’ve been hearing about from consumers and media alike!

We also loved the idea of adding a weather monitor to our Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico website during slow season, advertising upcoming sunshine when it is on the horizon! Even if it’s not possible to add this to the resort site, another great alternative could be to promote good weather on the island through social media posts and stories in combination with promoting the spontaneous travel offer!

Since working with the resort, we’ve coordinated giveaways and sweepstakes that have aired footage of the property on Live! with Kelly & Ryan, A Taste of New York and one that is set to air on Wheel of Fortune!
By client request, our goal is to secure another TV spot for Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico on The Price is Right in 2025!
